Recognition for Contributions to India’s Engineering and Infrastructure Sector

Engineering services have an important role in India’s infrastructure development, industrial expansion and technical capabilities. As projects demand specialised structural solutions, assessments and multidisciplinary expertise, engineering firms contribute across construction, infrastructure, manufacturing and other technical sectors. The importance of this professional contribution was acknowledged at the IEI (Institution of Engineers – India) Industry & Education Excellence Summit & Awards 2026, organised by The Institution of Engineers (India) on 19 September 2026 at the SCOPE Convention Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi.
Held under the theme “Engineering India’s Global Footprint: Technology, Talent and Trust,” the summit featured the 18th IEI Industry Excellence Summit & Award and the 5th IEI Engineering Education Excellence Summit & Award. The programme brought together representatives of government, industry and academia to discuss India’s expanding technical capabilities, industrial development, engineering education and collaborative innovation.
Among those recognized at the ceremony was EPICONS Consultants Pvt. Ltd., which received the IEI Industry Excellence Award 2026, Platinum, in the Engineering Services and Consultancy category. The recognition adds to the firm’s record of industry honours and acknowledges its work across structural engineering, project consultancy, assessment, rehabilitation and infrastructure engineering.
Established in 1985, EPICONS Consultants is a Mumbai-based engineering consultancy with expertise in structural design, project management, architectural and detailed engineering, structural assessment, nondestructive testing, structural audits, repairs, rehabilitation, retrofitting and design reviews. Over four decades of professional practice, the organisation has developed a multidisciplinary team comprising engineering graduates, postgraduates, diploma holders and senior technical personnel. The company’s directors Anand Kulkarni and Arvind Parulekar, Deputy General Manager Suhas Jadhav, Faiz Dalvi and Kunal Chikney attended the awards ceremony in New Delhi.
The summit addressed India’s expanding role in international engineering and product development. In his souvenir message, IEI President Er. Manish Mahendra Kothari referred to the country’s growing global technical standing and the relevance of the summit’s central theme. The inaugural session featured Union Minister of Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy as the morning chief guest. The Guests of Honour included Shalabh Goel, Managing Director of the National Capital Region Transport Corporation; Lt Gen Harpal Singh, Director General of the Border Roads Organisation; and Dr Anju Rathi Rana, Member Secretary of the Law Commission. Alongside Er. J. C. Singhal, Chair of the Souvenir Committee, the dignitaries formally released the event souvenir during the opening session.
Dr Ranga Reddy Enti, Chairman of the IEI Awards 2026, discussed the need for India to advance beyond domestic manufacturing and develop products within the country for international competition. His remarks addressed the value of collaboration across industry, academia and startups in advancing engineering capabilities.
The programme included panel discussions convened by Dr Aloknath De, covering industrial development, academic contribution, and collaborative product development. The first panel focused on the transition towards global influence, with a keynote address by Nidhi Bansal, Director of DTDF, and panellists representing firms such as Bharat Electronics, SAIL, HLL Lifecare, Holtec Consulting and JK Tyres. A second panel discussed the role of academia in national development, featuring Dr Sandipann Narote, Director of NCVET, alongside representatives of NIT Meghalaya, JSS Polytechnic and Shri Vishnu Engineering College for Women. The programme also included a fireside discussion between Dr Aloknath De and Gaurav Agarwal, cofounder of Tata 1mg, focusing on collaborative product development across sectors.
The evening awards presentation featured General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd), Governor of Mizoram, as Chief Guest. Firms and institutions across manufacturing, process industries, construction, engineering services, consulting, MSMEs, startups and academic sectors were recognised following a two-stage assessment and jury review process. The ceremony was conducted under the leadership of Er Ashwani Lohani, Jury Board Head, with Dr Ranga Reddy Enti serving as Chairman of IEI Awards 2026. The Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) was the knowledge partner for the summit.
EPICONS has developed its engineering practice across structural design, project consultancy, assessment, rehabilitation, and infrastructure engineering. Its technical activities include structural audits, nondestructive testing, repair planning, retrofitting and detailed engineering services. The firm has also undertaken knowledge-sharing initiatives through EPICONS Friends of Concrete, known as EFC. The platform has contributed to technical programs, seminars and training activities for members of the engineering fraternity.
During the past three years, EPICONS conducted or sponsored 16 technical seminars, workshops and conferences. Its technical initiatives trained 956 people during FY2025 26, reflecting the firm’s involvement in professional learning and technical knowledge development. The company’s CSR activities are undertaken in collaboration with We Need You Society, extending its work into social initiatives. EPICONS also reported 68.32% procurement from the MSME sector in FY2025 26 and maintained an e waste disposal system supported by certificates.
ECPL’s documented industry recognitions include the ICI UltraTech Endowment Award 2014, IEI 2023 Gold and ISI 2024 Recognition, alongside several other distinctions. Its professional systems include ISO 9001:2015 certification, with its quality management system for engineering services endorsed by TÜV NORD. EPICONS also has CRISIL ratings associated with financial and operational assessment, alongside NABL accreditation related to testing, calibration and nondestructive evaluation standards.
The IEI recognition draws attention to the role of engineering firms in India’s infrastructure and industrial development. Structural design, project management, assessment, testing, rehabilitation and technical reviews require coordinated expertise across multiple stages of a project. For EPICONS Consultants, receiving the IEI Centenary Industry Excellence Award marks a significant professional recognition at a national engineering platform. The recognition adds to the company’s established record of industry participation, technical services, knowledge sharing and professional development as India expands its engineering capabilities and international technical presence.
